Our crafty afternoon

It's spring officially here, and that means a lot to be done on this 10 acres of ours.
Consequently 'school' in the formal sense has taken a back burner at least in the short term anyway.
The kids are LOVING being completely free of any schedule or structure (what little we have anyway) and are so so so busy with many many projects of their own...

Friday afternoon, at one stage I realised I hadn't heard any of them for a while.... something that always requires investigation, so I took a break in my tree planting to check i t out....

Found them doing this in Kurt and Becca's bedroom......

How cute !! All of them on Kurt's bed reading a book about gnomes..

Then at the kids request an afternoon of fibre craft ensued, this required me stopping all planting to help with threading needles sewing guidance etc... but it was worth it to see them enjoying their projects...

Kurt decided to make 'cuff's' , which ,much to my delight, was an idea he got from a kids sewing book that I brought them for christmas, but  they haven't really been interested in ,till now....

he made one for him and one for his Papa, both of which he personalized too.....

Kurt's one

Papa's one

Becca and Anton wanted to do some needle felting.......

Observed very closely by their younger sibling ,of course

The proud result

Telling me all about it.

Then the little ones got stuck into some lego 'work' (I made the mistake of asking how they were going with their lego 'play' and sharply corrected by Anton 'this is not 'play' it is 'work' Mama')...

They topped the afternoon off with some flax frond 'wars'....
