This great river

Today was a funny old day, with nothing too exciting going on... infact we were all quite lathargic really, everyone still has slight colds and maybe that was zapping energy levels. The weather was clear and sunny, but very crisp and wintery.. still nice to look at though..  and perfect for chess on the deck........(chess is the newly learnt game of favour at the moment)...

I had a go at re- energising with a 'Dutch pancake' which was so easy to make and proved to be a popular and succesful energy booster....

Late afternoon and I decided that we needed to get out (or was that just me).....

so we drove down to the river .... the cold wind had died down and it was the perfect evening for playing in the long grass.....

And after running, some rolling around in it too...

then the kids decided they'd like to head down the track to the water's edge...... so off we ventured.....

"Come on Mama"

So much to explore....... so we stayed till the last bit of light had left....

Arwen collecting anything and every thing that would fit into her jumper ... mud, stones and more mud.....

Becca collecting shells and all things sparkly.....

The boys... well Kurt was working at spotting and catching small fish .. with his hands .. (whilst being disgrunted at the fact we didn't bring the fishing rods down)

..... and Anton had discovered a rock that was shaped like a gun, and a broken branch that was just right for a plane.....

This is truly a beautiful place and I ,for one, am very grateful for it....
