Another attempt at some school work

So on the second official day of term three, we tried ,again, to start something resembling school work, this lasted about half an hour before we needed to be away into town for Arwen's first swimming lesson.

Kurt managed to start a title page in his workbook, for his first learning of the people of the woodlands in his Native American's block....

Rebecca carried on with learning about how to read the time....
and the other two... well they busied themselves (as they usually do )

This was the school scene today (definately not an unusual sight here at 'school' time.....
two under and two at the table, all working at something....

It turns out Anton was taking a lesson under the table, and 'teaching' Arwen all about King Arthur, pointing out various interesting points as he was 'reading' (in a non-readers way) his library book......

Arwen wandered off, but Anton was so totally focus on the book, I don't think he noticed.... and so the lesson and learning continued anyway.....

Our brief attempt at school finished half an hour later as we all raced to be in t he car to get to town in time for the big kids 'sports session' and Arwen's first ever swimming lesson.
Arwen went really well, so totally unphased by the group situation, totally loving playing the games, and even tolerated being put under the water by the instructor.

A trip to the library, then home, to meet a really neat local jounalist who wanted to do a story on our 'historic' house (it was once a school house associated with the old St.Mary's catholic school in Blenheim)
which was fun.

What was left of the afternoon, was filled up with play,
......as well as a firelighting lesson for Rebecca ,from Kurt, which consisted of a long list of do's and don'ts (thats our Kurt, always thorough)....

and a scone making session with Anton and Arwen (we had no bread left in the house). Anton had a glorious time shaping and reshaping his piece of dough (the result of which I would not describe as light and fluffy, but he was happy enough and consumed it all) and Arwen, well she moulded a bit and ate a lot !!

Tomorrow, maybe more constructive school ??? or maybe not, if something more interesting comes up.
