Dirt

As we celebrated the longest night last night ,it seemed fitting that to celebrate the days starting to get longer (albeit slowly) we work on finishing our raised vegetable garden.

We have been lucky enough to some amazing friends who helped construct us the coolest raised vegetable gardens, four of them in all. All made from driftwood from our local coastline. They look very earthy and quite funky indeed.

Any way it was all hands on deck, as it was our mission to fill one of the garden beds with dirt that we had brought and delivered back in the summer.

Lots of spade work, and dirt everywhere, beautiful earthy dirt.....

Big spades ,big hands as well as little spades and little hands, all were contributing..... in their own way...

I'm not too sure why the hammer was required though...

Trailer rides......

Truck rides and lots of smiles.....

and the result was one fantastic garden bed now complete with the most glorious glorious dirt......

So good to play in.... but even better to imagine and plan what will grow in it in only a couple of months time..

And to celebrate and good job well done..... icecream.

and for some there was all that dirt freshly moved dirt to get into....
