A day with Papa

Yesterday was a bit of a change from the usual. I had planned to be away  for the day (swim school training) and Rob had planned to stay home with the kids, a real treat indeed. The training day got canceled and much to the kids delight Rob stayed home anyway.
So our school day started with a bit of early morning rugby training (naturally !!) and we traied out the wee rugby field the boys had constructed a few days ago    http://starfishandchaoss.blogspot.co.nz/2012/06/projects.html , complete with one tiny but well constructed goal post. and Kurt had even cut PVC piping and sewed up material for flags around the field !!!

It was a whole family affair, including the dog . I'm not too sure what team the dog was on, but she was an enormous help !!!.

Arwen made herself useful testing out the newly constructed goal post....

Then inside for some stories, poems and freshly baked pumpkin muffins, these are a good old Alison Holst recipe, but they are really really good.....

Finding the sunshine on the floor, and some books with Papa.....

and some sibling snuggles.....

moving onto the couch, for more books........ (our kids could listen to stories all day, so this extended book reading session was very very well received)

Then some maths, Papa style .....

This many smiles during a maths session is a very very good sign !!!

Then that night our two big children presented poems to an packed house at the 'Boathouse theatre' in Blenheim, with the rest of their drama groups.
It was a great night and our two did so well standing infront of an audience presenting their poems, so clearly and confidently... We were so proud of you both....

A late night, the two little ones only just made it to the end (although it was hard work at the end), but great excitement as we traveled home at 10 pm celebrating with chocolate chip cookies !!!!
