Fathers day

We started with the usual, us making 'Papa" breakfast... then Rob chose to spent the day up a mountain, so we packed lunch raincoats , warm gear and various other things necessary when traveling with 4 little ones.... then we set off, for the hill tops.
Rob knew of a hill top we could drive all the way up to , all the way up to about 1600m , which was pretty cool. The road was quite an adventure in itself, it's had little to no maintance, so a lot of fun was had by all especially the driver (Rob), adding to his pleasure was the very nervous passenger (me) next to him.

Anyway we up there and it turns out that the almost balmy weather we had below had changed dramatically, ,very little visability with 4 degree temperature and a wind chill of much much lower, and an extremely strong bitingly cold wind. We geared up and decided to go for a walk along the ridge line.....

We didn't get too far... the little ones struggled with the really really freezing wind and stinging rain, so Rob huddled with them for a bit......

I managed to get a few photos of the flora .....

Yes I know the mountain daisies are dead, but I loved them....

Then we headed back down to find some warmer temperatures......
Turns out the weather below had turned too, but it wasn't raining and it was considerably warmer.. so we stopped by the river for a bit of a play and some lunch.....

and a nice cup of tea.....

Not quite the adventure Rob had in mind, but an adventure all the same...
