Washing windows

OK so when the children started opening the door to look outside instead of going to the windows I admitted that the old 'this is farmhouse the windows are supposed to be a little dusty' excuse had well and truly gone past it's useby date.....  so ,with a big sigh, late yesterday afternoon(despite knowing that this was an all day job,I found suitable distractions prior to this time) I grabbed the necessary equipment and started out.....
However ,like any job around here, it wasn't long before I had a 'helper', this time it was my wee man, who came forward with a very enthusiastic "please can I do some".. so another bowl of soapy water and scrubbing brush (yes they are that dirty) and vinegar spray bottle with newspaper was found.. and he joyfully went about his business......

.. with a lot of effort going in too (well I guess there was a lot of dirt)

..and quite the air of importance too...

I love that the simple ,(and what I had thought of, as not the most exciting job) task of window cleaning can bring such delight......

Not long after this photo was taken we were joined by two more 'helpers' and after an ensuing 25 minutes of soapy water, vinegar, and newspaper chaos, I declared it officially dinner time and wrapped it all up.

So now instead of browninsh tinged windows I now have smeary grayish windows, which I have decided, is a marginal improvement, but an improvement all the same.

  1. He looks so adorable in the last picture, Niki! How thoughtful of this child to help mom clean the house. :) It's good to know that he's learning how to clean at a young age. With your proper guidance, he'll definitely grow up as a responsible person.
