Then some more claywork was requested.... Kurt made a great replica of an adobe house... (People of the desert)......
While they worked, I made many batches of muffins for a trip we are taking in the weekend.... at the moment I have a little helper who follows me around the house while I do the various things I do , saying
"I'll help you Mama", and so I have an extra pair of hands (sort of..) to help me with the household tasks... despite things taking considerably longer to accomplish at the moment , it is nice to have some company, and she's becoming quite a whizz in the kitchen.....
Again I had 'plans' for 'school' work today, but again the kids had their own plans, and when left for any time at all, they just get going with something... today the three big kids rediscovered a great puzzle book Anton was given for his birthday by his cousins, and they spent a large part of the afternoon on the deck with Kurt reading to them and the three of them working through the puzzles...... very cute... I'm fast learning about the merits of 'unschooling' because these guys totally have their own agenda, and ,mostly, it's a pretty good one....
We checked out the flooding down the back of the property..
. and after having quite some difficulty getting across the flooded drains (involving electric shocks, bruised knees and considerable tears) we decided to do a bit of problem solving..... and we gather tools and materials.......
and a bridge was created.......
problem solved.....
Once over into the back paddock.... the boys discovered that "the grass clumps could make great hurdles" (I tell you the Olympics is big in our house right now)... and so a few races were in order....
this is our "Olympic gold medal race, with Mahe Drysdale single scull". Yes the Olympics is pretty big around here at the moment.
Such beautiful, tidy handwriting! Well done, guys! Loving the clay work too, I'm feeling inspired to get the clay out at Playcentre this week - it is a resource that we don't use nearly enough.
