Our Sunday

We love the weekends, mainly because we ,mostly, get to spend it as a family together, but sometimes it's also an excuse for mini adventures, especially when we have a visitor with us ....

So we started with the local market in Blenheim.... very very small in the middle of winter, but not short on atmosphere all the same, great to see people out and supportive despite the weather..

..we soaked up a bit of the atmosphere, purchased some great local cheese and grabbed a bite to eat....

then we were off to watch the local horse ploughing competition.... we all LOVED that, those Clydesdale horses are the such beautiful animals... so strong and so so placid and mild natured.... and watching the dirt being cultivated in such a time honoured way, quite special, and what an amazing job those old horse drawn ploughs make....

and the kids loved meeting the horses.....

..to the park in town for lunch and a lot of exploring (of course, who wants to eat when there is stuff to explore)..

This is Anton discussing the ways of the world (according to a just turned 5 year old)

A lesson on how to catch a fish with stick and string....

..and now big sister telling them both how it all 'really' is...

then one more car trip.....

no tour for visitors is complete without a trip to 'our beach'....

'sand angel's '......

some well earned relaxing....

considerable exploring...

lots and lots of play....

don't you love the neverending sense of wonder that nature provides for all of us.....

and when the temperature dropped just enough to call us home....

there was still time for more discovery.....

and more rugby.....

all the way back to the car...
