We donned jackets, hats and boots and opened the door to a very bleak, grey wet afternoon , but it was good to feel that very cool air.
First off to top up our inside firewood supply....
I'm sure we have the tidiest wood pile in Marlborough thanks to our friends from France, it's seriously a work of art.
Then it was down the back of the property to the pond to check on our goats (and sheep) and have a bit of fun ....
Our buggy still has a flat tire (this job continues to be low down on list of priority's for me) so we improvised with a wheelbarrow today...I'm not sure Miss Arwen thought too much off this, but it certainly served it's purpose.
After deciding the goats were fine.... much play was in order....
Oh the magical mix of a two year old and a puddle !!
The swings required some quality control..... of course.
I'm not sure our Lily(our adorable little white goat) was required for this exercise though, although it did help with the giggle factor.
And why swing with just one when you can have two ....
Ohh and it's even more fun to try and grab for Mama's hat as you are swinging past...
Playing in those glorious willow leaves .....
and a quick chat to your big brother about life and all that .... (things look pretty good for them right now)
Bit of drain jumping .....
Then some problem solving ,figuring out how those who can't jump can get across....
Getting ready for that cross...
Once over to the otherside, and over the stopbank. we could see how much the waters had risen...
Pretty exciting..
This ,of course, created paddock puddles... and well what's a child to do..... more puddle jumping was certainly required....
The goats appear to be OK about it....
Then the rain started ,again, so home we headed...
Just time for one attempt at a group shot...with varying degrees of compliance....
. I tried again...., and the big kids tried to get Arwen on board with it, but it wasn't going to happen.... actually this is a truer representation of the moment though....
Miss Madame Arwen herself....
and here's our big little boy...
It was a good few minutes, well spent.
