Christchurch for the weekend

We headed down to Christchurch on Saturday, Rob,Kurt and our friends from France had tickets to the All Black game against Ireland that night, but going tp Christchurch is always an adventure for us, we love it.

On the way we stopped just out of kaikoura, to check out the seal pups ..

They swim up a stream to this beautiful spot to hang out and play while their Mum's get food for them...

It truly is a magical spot and we could have stayed for hours watching them play, but we had a few time constraints and the All Blacks were calling......
So back down the track to the car we headed.... on the road again to the city..

The game was a great experience for all (if a somewhat fustrating game to watch,as far as rugby games go).
And they all survived the ,very, chilly conditions.

The next day, brought another with cool easterly conditions, but not to be detered, some of us headed up the road to the reserve for a bit of rugby ball tossing, catching  and kicking practice...Good to have a Papa as a back up !!!!

That ball can get away on the hill pretty fast sometimes

Such intense consentration from our four year old.....

But such a sense of success when that boot connects with the ball..

(It's not a clear shot, but it's better that way, you really don't need the picture clarity to get what this little boy is feeling !!)

Special moments between a Papa and his little boy chasing a ball around in a childhood haunt of past...

It's such a great spot..

This is our friends second to last day in New Zealand, mixed emotions for them, but I'm pleased the weather was at least resonable for them, if somewhat fresh...

After refueling with an amazing lunch !! We headed down to the beach... where it was even colder !!! But such a lot of fun to be had !!! (and pretty cool light for photo's too !!)

Check this out for cool light...

A pretty neat  full of energy four year old running and running and running...

Some intense shell collecting...

Rugby.....

running...

 and more running.....

After it was decided it was getting a bit too cold (by the adults,of course) the kids went to play with their cousins and i took the two little ones with us to explore another part of Christchurch., with my sister and her full of energy two year old.
We went for a cool little walk around the port hills, very invigorating.. and cute..

We all had any cobwebs successfully cleared out after this refreshing walk in the hills, Thanks Kerri, it was awesome !!

A special mention for our  big little boy, who did an an amazing amount of walking this day !! Up and down many hills around Christchurch and he did almost all of it by himself !! It was a great effort. His certainly  earned the enormous dinner he put away that night !!
