New Years day

As is tradition in our family ,this New years day we went for a long family walk.
We have lived a few different places in this country and with pregnancy's new baby's and various other things that change with a growing family every year has been quite a different walk.
This year was a goodie, we were staying in the Marlborough sounds and went for a beautiful walk up in the bush along part of the Queen Charlotte track.... the kids did really well ... we managed to walk for about 3 hours! Which was brilliant......

The weather was great, not too hot and good cloud cover, perfect for walking.
The bush was beautiful, and as soul fulling as it always is.....

We paced ourselves well and stopped to look at and talk about lots of trees and birds and many other discoveries. I guess that's one of the great things about walking with kids, there make you aware of just how MANY great things there are to stop and look at, ponder over and play with.......

Lots of time for just hanging out with each other.....

Anton discovered great rocks which were just like the 'space fighter's' from Starwars (his absolute obsession at the moment).... which he insisted on carrying the whole walk (or enlisting our help to carry them for him!!)

and Arwen got some help with her puddle jumping.....

Shewsberry biscuits and lollies at the top to give us the energy to get back down.....

and then more fun and games on our walk back down.....
